4.8 Earthquake Shakes Costa Rica Sunday Night

An earthquake was felt in most of Costa Rica on Sunday night. In the Central Valley, the earthquake registered 4.8 on the Richter scale, according to the country's Volcanology and Seismology Observatory (Ovsicori).

Costa Rica's epicenter is located located in Guanacaste, near Abangares, the Ovsicori reported. The earthquake hit at 7:31 p.m., and reportedly was felt in Guanacaste, the Central Pacific and the Central Valley. No major damage has been reported.

Steve and Sylvie from http://www.explorecostarica.com/ we're watching TV in a suburb of San Jose, when they felt the ground shake beneath their feet. "Another earthquake! We waited in anticipation, in case it was the start of something bigger, but it only lasted a few seconds" said Sylvie.

Steve and Sylvie just returned to their home in the Central Valley from a business trip in Jaco and Manuel Antonio, when the earthquake hit. During their Central Pacific visit, they met with clients such as Mango Mar Hotel, DayStar PropertiesJaco Massage, Kayak Jaco, Lemon Zest & Jaco Taco Restaurants, as well as Manuel Antonio's Hotel Mono Azul and Hotel Babaloo Inn.

The US Geological Society registered the earthquake as having a 4.7 magnitude.
