Terraza del Pacifico, Playa Hermosa next to Jaco beach Costa Rica

Located just over the hill from Jaco beach at the start of Playa Hermosa, this Costa Rica hotel has a wonderful setting on a mostly undeveloped section of beach. In the middle of the complex is a circular pool with a swim-up bar and plenty of chaise longues for sunbathing and siestas.

Red-tile roofs and faux-stucco walls give the buildings a Mediterranean look, and hardwood balcony railings add a touch of the tropics. Each guest room has two double beds, a private bathroom, and either a patio or balcony. A couple of suites are considerably larger and even include a kitchenette.

This Costa Rica hotel's restaurant and open-air bar are located within a few feet of the high-tide mark. The hotel offers a range of Costa Rica tours, including a nearby canopy tour. Surfing is still the major draw here, and the Terraza hosts several major tournaments each year and has even installed klieg lights on Jaco beach for night surfing.
